600 Artisans Put Up their Products at DWCRA Bazar

VISAKHAPATNAM: Rural development minister K Mrunalini inaugurated the National DWCRA Bazar at the Andhra University Engineer College Grounds here Friday. As many as 600 artisans from 19 states had put their products on display in 300 stalls in the bazar.

He claimed that the TDP government initiated self help groups in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh in 1996 to pave way for women empowerment. Over the period, the National DWCRA Bazar witnessed the achievements of women SHGs across the country. Having recognised the importance of the women and their involvement in governance, the TDP government was allotting several works to the SHG members during the past three months, she added.

Collector N Yuvaraj said that the Dwacra Bazar is open to the public from 10.30 am to 9.30 pm till October 7. Cultural programmes were also arranged in the evenings for entertaining the visitors, he added.

AU V-C GSN Raju and DRDA project director Satya Sai Srinivas also spoke.
