PCI Team to Probe Ban on Reporters

HYDERABAD: The Press Council of India (PCI) chairman justice Markandey Katju has set up a three-member committee to probe into the  complaint that the reporters of two newspapers - Sakshi and Namaste Telangana were being prevented from attending the press conferences of chief minister of AP.

In a statement here on Friday, Justice Katju announced that the committee consisting of senior journalists - Rajeev Ranjan Nag (Convener), K Amarnath (member) and Prajnananda Chaudhury (member) would shortly visit Hyderabad to enquire into the matter.

Justice Katju said: ‘’Discrimination against two newspapers and television channels by the government of AP prima facie violates the fundamental right of freedom of speech and expression.”.
