VISAKHAPATNAM: TWO persons died and 20 more were injured when a tractor in which they were travelling overturned in Ananthagiri mandal Agency area on Tuesday. The tractor driver was reportedly drunk while driving at a high speed. The deceased have been identified as Venkaiah (60) from Peda Gantyada in the city and Vanthala Rani (20) from Anantagiri mandal. The condition of three of the injured is said to be critical.
Reportedly, the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating with a sharp turn. However, police are yet to confirm if he was drunk driving. The driver is undergoing treatment at the area hospital. The seriously injured persons have been shifted to Vizag for treatment, and the rest to the Araku area hospital. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
