145 special trains to meet rush over Guntur division

GUNTUR: With a view to meet the pilgrim rush during Krishna Pushkarams from August 12 to 23, the South Central Railways (SCR) will run as many as 145 special trains over Guntur division.

Guntur divisional railway manager Vijay Sharma said,  here on Wednesday that advanced reservation facility for 73 trains and additional halts provided at Repalle, Mangalagiri, Pedakurapadu, Pondugala and Vishnupuram railway stations, where the pushkar ghats are located in the nearby areas.

Similarly, a mobile ticket issuing counter will be pressed into service during the pushkarams.

South Central Railways chief commercial manager Ganesh Rao was present.

Free bus services

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) announced free bus services will be operated from Krishna Canal Railway Junction during the Krishna pushkarams. As the railway officials provided halting facility to almost all the trains at Krishna Canal Junction, the RTC decided to operate required number of buses for ferrying the pilgrims to various pushkar ghats acrodd the district.

The RTC officials on Wednesday offered free bus services to passengers going to Vijayawada and Seethanagaram from Krishna Canal.
