Woman killed in attack by ex-lover

VISAKHAPATNAM: A 22-year-old woman died and her mother was grievously injured after they were attacked by her ex-lover at their house in HB Colony late Saturday evening. The mother was rushed to KGH.

According to police, Bhogamma and her daughter Rupa had migrated from Ponduru in Srikakulam district to the city. They were working as daily labourers. However, one painter Ramana, hailing from Ponduru, befriended Rupa and Bhogamma.

Ramana and Rupa fell in love and they eloped in February this year. However, following a series of disputes with Ramana, Rupa returned to her mother about three months ago. Rupa informed her mother that Ramana had refused to marry her. Against the backdrop, Ramana came to Rupa’s house and attacked  Rupa and Bhogamma with a sharp weapon. Rupa died on the spot before Ramana fled. The locals shifted Bhogamma to the KGH. ACP Annepu Narasimha Murthy rushed to the spot and is investigating.
