An experience of a lifetime for volunteers to cherish

MAHABUBNAGAR:The ongoing Krishna Pushkaralu in the district has has given an opportunity to the youth to do service to hundreds of pilgrims visiting the district. Several of them from various mandals have become volunteers. As many as 30 youngsters belonging to Potulamadugu, Ippalapally, Karvena, Amistanpur villages in Bhoopur mandal have joined hands with the local police to help devotees and assist in regulation of traffic. They are deputed at Bhootpur road diversion point, Potulamadugu parking place and Palamuru ITI hostel located in Amistanpur.

The volunteers also arrange for drinking water and food, and other amenities for pilgrims.

"I am studying final-year degree course. I am used to participate in social service activities organised by our college. I volunteered to help Pushkaram pilgrims when  officials were looking for volunteers. I have been at service for the last one week and I must say that it have derived satisfaction from serving devotees and winning their appreciation," Venkatesh of Ramdas Thanda in Amistanpur village said. Rajeswar Reddy, a native of Karvena said: "When I came to know that the Pushkaram organisers for looking for  volunteers, I immediately offered my services. The service has made me feel very good." Several others expressed happiness at serving pilgrims during the river fete.
