Pilgrims turn tech savvy at Sangamam

VIJAYAWADA: Huge crowd thronged the Internet of Things (IoT) Expo-2016 at Pavitra Sangamam Ghat near Ibrahimpatnam here on Sunday to have a glimpse and adopt the IoT applications across various enterprise and consumer segments.

Organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Department, the IoT Expo-2016 was inaugurated by IT Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy near Pavitra Sangamam Ghat during the ongoing Krishna Pushkaram. Innovative projects by students of various educational institutions and software based companies were on display at the stalls.

Majority of the youth and enthusiasts, who had a holy dip in River Krishna on Sunday, made a beeline to go around the expo which displayed the network of physical objects or things embedded with electronics, software, sensor and network connectivity.

A stall set up by Erudex Private Limited Company, Hyderabad displayed the smart classroom concept which is the need of the hour for the students in government schools and colleges in the State.

Speaking to TNIE, the company’s deployment engineer R Siva Krishna said that the idea of learning through videos, animation and graphics will benefit the students to acquire more practical knowledge besides theoretical knowledge. Education institution heads visited the stall and took detailed information regarding the operation of smart classroom concept.

Meanwhile, farmers and rural pilgrims near the Pavitra Sangamam ghat witnessed the usage of ‘drones for agriculture’ stall set up by a team of ten students of KL University. A Gopi Raja, a student of KL University said: “As part of startup project we manufactured the pesticide spraying drone, drone ambulance and aerial surveillance drone, which cost us around Rs2 lakh. Witnessing the operation of drones after knowing its benefits farmers from Nandigama village asked us to conduct demonstration in the fields.”

The expo also had stalls set up by the Plantship company of Kadiyam village, where the green plants will be delivered at one’s doorstep through online booking. Cyber Security Android application by Virus Stopper foundation and Water Stede Management Control by Efftronics Software Solutions are major attractions at the IoT Expo-2016.
