CM Chandrababu Naidu credits Govt staff, volunteers for Pushkaram success

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday felicitated officials for ensuring smooth conduct of the12-day Krishna Pushkaralu and also thanked the Government employees and volunteers for their services.

Addressing a large gathering of Government employees and volunteers at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium here, he said without the dedicated efforts of the officials, employees and volunteers, the event would not have been such a success.

He wanted all of them to continue to work in the same spirit for the development of the state. He said Pushkaralu had taught them several lessons and the best practices adopted during the event need to be documented.

He said after carefully analysing every aspect, efforts would be made to incorporate these best practices in the day-to-day administration.

On the occasion, Chief Minister announced Friday as a holiday for all the employees who rendered their services in Krishna Pushkaralu.  He said an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh will be paid to those government employees and Rs 5 lakh to outsourcing employees who died while discharging Pushkara duties. He said Rs 3 lakh would paid to those who died in accidents during Pushkaralu.

Describing himself as team leader, he said a team can only succeed when every member of the team does his bit. He lauded efforts of Krishna Pushkaralu special officer B Rajasekhar and was all praise for DGP N Sambasiva Rao, who, he said, had changed the image of AP police in short time.

He expressed happiness that Vijayawada and the state capital getting a boost due to Krishna Pushkaralu and claimed that 99 percent of pilgrims, who had attended the river fete, expressed their satisfaction.

“The event was not confined to a particular religion or segment of a community. It belongs to everyone as it involves paying respects to a river that sustains us all,”he said. DGP and other officials also spoke on the occasion.
