Seven Maoists surrender in Chintapalle

VISAKHAPATNAM: Seven armed Maoist militia members, accused of several offences, have surrendered before the Rural police of Chintapalle mandal in Visakhapatnam Agency on Tuesday.

Owing to health and family issues, along with police counseling, K Chinnabbai (32), K Ram Murthy (52), V Raju (43), V Ram Babu (31), V Krishna Rao (21), K Buddu Naidu (36) and K Ravi (25), all belonging to Cheruvuri village of Chintapalle mandal, are said to have taken the step.

According to the Rural police, the Maoists took part in several crimes including attacking the house of MPTC Balapam Panchayat of Chintapalle in 2013, attack on Gemmeli Sanjeeva Rao’s house at Veeravaram in 2015, damaging Essar pipeline at Cheruvuru in 2015 and a few others.
