Ramu throws tweet tantrums at Radha

Filmmaker meets Vangaveeti family; says he won’t compromise after getting a rap on his knuckles

VIJAYAWADA: A day after the producer of Ram Gopal Varma-directed Telugu film, Vangaveeti, gave an undertaking to the Hyderabad High Court that the ‘offensive’ scenes in the trailer of the movies would be deleted, the director on Saturday tweeted that he would make no compromise on his dream project.
Varma, who arrived in Vijayawada on Saturday for the audio release of the movie, surprised all by meeting the family members of Vangaveeti Radha and Devineni Nehru, the descendants of the two rival clans on which the movie is based upon.

Varma, after discussing his movie with both the families, tweeted that the meeting with Radha did not go the way he expected it to. It was Vangaveeti Radha who had filed a complaint against the filmmakers in the High Court accusing the latter of twisting facts. After receiving notices, RGV and the producer Dasari Kiran Kumar decided to delete the controversial song ‘Kamma Kapu’ from the flick as the court had observed that the song with loud undertones of caste rivalry might flare emotions.

Varma met Vangaveeti Ratnakumari and her son Vangaveeti Radha Krishna at a hospital here and also held discussions with with Ranga, Radha Mitra Mandali. Adding to the controversy, Varma later put out a series of tweets. “Just met Radha and his mother… Meeting did not go half well… Problems… I will not compromise… Have to see what happens,” he revealed. A litte later, he claimed, “I saw many serious warnings. First time I saw very smilingly serious warnings. Dangerous but I will not compromise on my vision of Vangaveeti.”

“Two important people are troubling. But many Radha Ranga Mitra Mandali people supporting us and I invited them to Vangaveeti audio event,” RGV said in one of the tweets.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, RGV said: “I was brought up in the same city watching the feud between the two clans. I have the freedom to portray public issues or public figures. I don’t compromise on my film or get back. It’s my dream project which was in my thoughts right from my teenage. I won’t answer anyone or explain the subject.”

On the other side, Vangaveeti Radha Krishna told Express that the meeting was informal and Varma had failed to either accept their version or even listen to their concerns.
“Varma claims that he knows everything about our lives... he is acting foolish. He was just a nine-year-old when my uncle died. How could he know the politics, fascism or any other at that age? Now, without even consulting us?”  Radha Krishna questioned.

He further said that their objections were only two as of now — one, the casteist song and the other, the filmmakers failure to get a censor board clearance. “I don’t protest or object, if he showcases facts. But, I shall drag him to court, if he misinterprets the truth and goes for character assassination. I don’t know what Varma is going to present. But, any misinterpretations will not be tolerated,” Vangaveeti Radha Krishna warned.
