VISAKHAPATNAM/KURNOOL : The Central Investigation Unit (CIU) of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), who are probing into the allegations of Kurnool district medical and health officer (DM&HO) Swarajyalakshmi amassing assets disproportionate to her known source of income, conducted simultaneous raids on her properties in Kurnool and Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

The ACB officials, on the directions of Vijayawada Range Central Investigating Unit DSP Prasad Rao, raided an apartment belonging to Swarajyalakshmi in Kurnool.

The team seized 100 gram of gold and `5,000 in cash, investigating officer Inspector Satish (Vijayawada) told the media. Kurnool ACB Circle Inspector Krishna Reddy assisted Inspector Satish in the raid.

The DM&HO allegedly has amassed disproportionate assets including several plots at Gajuwaka, Anandapuram and Pedda Musali Vada areas in Visakhapatnam and some more properties in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts too.

The ACB also sent a team to Visakhapatnam, which raided Swarajyalakshmi’s house in the VUDA Layout, Marripalem, on Wednesday .

However, sources said that more checks would be done on Thursday as the officials would bring the DM&HO to Visakhapatnam by Wednesday late night.

Swarajyalakshmi has worked in Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam for many years and the officials are suspecting that some crucial documents could be unearthed.

The ACB team in Visakhapatnam refused to reveal more information, saying that the investigation was yet to be completed.
