VISAKHAPATNAM: Japanese auto major Nissan launched SUV Terrano AMT, the latest model in the SUV segment, on the inaugural day of the first edition of the Express Auto Expo-2016 in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. The vehicle is a good choice for those who want the ruggedness and power of a compact SUV sans the hassles of operating a heavy clutch.

A chunkier and bold front grille makes the Terrano a choice of many over its competitors in the Indian market. With AMT transmission technology  gaining popularity, Nissan has come out with the new Terrano AMT.

The AMT or ‘automated manual transmission’ is gaining popularity in India and the 6-speed advanced auto drive by Nissan on the Terrano works flawlessly.
The AMT makes the vehicle fuel efficient with 15 Km/l on the city roads and up to 21.4 Km/l on highway. It offers a commanding driving position, with adjustment facility for seat height and steering. Nissan offers the AMT in the XV variant and comes with a 1.5-litre dCi engine which produces 108 bhp of max power and 245Nm of peak torque.

With the help of sensors, the 6-Speed Advanced Auto Drive does the gear shifts for the driver, resulting in a stress-free drive in city traffic.
What more? It makes you stay in control all the time as both your hands are free to be on the steering wheel. And for greater control, you can just switch to the clutch free manual transmission on the Terrano.
The variant comes with driver side armrest, soft-touch plastics on dashboard and doors along with illuminated switches.

At Express Auto Expo, the car was displayed by the Kantipudi Dealers, the dealers for the Japanese auto major in Visakhapatnam. “Be it unique functioning of gears, comfort, acceleration and other features. There is no need of manual activity as the gears will  automatically change depending on the speed. The car is available in the petrol version at `9.99 lakh,” Sandeep Pandey, DGM of South Nissan India said. Kantipudi Group directors M Jagan and K Vinay Babu were also present.

Further, Nissan Terrano AMT (Automatic) has the Easy-R AMT gear box only on the 110 PS diesel variant. It has features like hill assist control, electronic stability programme, 1500 cc, 205 MM ground clearance and dual front air bag.
