VISAKHAPATNAM: Principal Special Judge for CBI cases, Visakhapatnam, Gayathri Devi on Friday awarded three-year rigorous imprisonment, along with a fine of `36,000, to K Panduranga Rao, former postal assistant of Tekkali Head Post Office in Srikakulam district, for cheating the post office of `25.5 lakh.

The judge, while pronouncing judgement in six postal fraud cases pertaining, convicted K Panduranga Rao who was sent to Central Prison, Visakhapatnam.
In a press release, CBI superintendent of police (Visakhapatnam) R Gopala Krishna said that Panduranga Rao fraudulently withdrew `4.9 lakh, `5.8 lakh, `4.97 lakh and `5.21 lakh (`20.88 lakh in total) by submitting forged documents between June 12, 2009 and October 19,2011 from 10 SB accounts.
Later, he misappropriated the amount.

“Panduranga Rao had also entered into a criminal conspiracy with two more persons-Annu Sundara Rao and B Meghanadham, the then Postal Assistants of the same Post Office- who withdrew `1.8 lakh and `2.8 lakh (`4.6 lakh total) by using forged documents,” the SP said while quoting the chargesheets.  
However, the Judge for CBI cases, after hearing the case, acquitted Annu Sundara Rao and Bolloji Meghanadham, the press note said.
