Andhra likely to receive moderate rains in next 24 hours

Depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal is brewing into a cyclone. However, by the time the weather takes a vigorous turn, the cyclone would move away from the state.

As a result, moderate rains would occur at a few places over Andhra Pradesh in the next few days.
The low pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the neighbouring region has concentrated into deep depression.

The depression is currently moving towards northeast, near 570 km southeast of Visakhapatnam, 750 km South of Paradip and 1,020km south of southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the system is very likely to move initially northwest wards during the next 24 hours and then re-curve northeast wards towards Bangladesh coast during the next 48 hours.

The depression is very likely to intensify into a deep depression by Friday and would take the form of a  cyclonic storm soon, said MeT officials.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea in the next 24 hours.  

According to the Cyclone Warning Centre of Vizag region, squally winds reaching with a speed of 40-50 km, gusting to 60 kmph, would hit north coastal Andhra Pradesh and would prevail on and off the region on Friday.

Meanwhile, cloudy weather with spells of showers followed by heavy winds were witnessed in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
