Naidu unveils pylon for maiden Test cricket match

The Chief Minister interacted with senior players of both Indian and England cricket teams including the legend Geoffrey Boycott

VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu unveiled a pylon marking the maiden Test cricket match at YSR ACA-VDCA stadium in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. He also presented mementoes to the senior players of both the Indian and England teams and witnessed the Test match for sometime and interacted with Geoffrey Boycott.

Expressing his pleasure over Visakhapatnam stadium hosting Test match for the first time, Chandrababu Naidu said that Visakhapatnam was gaining popularity in sports with a number of sport events. Naidu along with TDP leader Kalavenkat Rao, BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju, BCCI vice-president and ACA general secretary Gokaraju Gangaraju and a few others witnessed the match from the stands.

aidu also added that the cricket Test match in Vizag and the recently concluded India-West Indies women’s T-20 series at Mulapadu of Vijayawada augur well for AP for hosting more international cricket matches in future.

In a meeting organised by the ACA, the Chief Minister presented mementoes to commentators and members of India and England cricket teams, including Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxman, Naseer Hussain, Sanjay Manjrekar, Lakshman Sivaramakrishnan, Team India coach Anil Kumble, chairman of BCCI senior selection committee MSK Prasad and a few others.
