TDP proposes Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in Hyderabad; Babu not to confront telangana  over assets

Union MoS Sujana Chowdary tells Naidu that if there is an AP Bhavan in Hyderabad, it will be convenient for anyone from Andhra to stay while visiting the TS capital

VIJAYAWADA: With no intent on losing secretariat buildings in Hyderabad to TS government without getting anything in return, Telugu Desam Party politburo meeting which was held here on Friday discussed a proposal to demand construction of a modern building to serve as AP Bhavan in Hyderabad.

The suggestion came from Union Minister of State Sujana Chowdary when Naidu briefed the politburo. The request to TS government was made to Governor ESL Narasimhan at a hotel earlier in the day. Naidu told the politburo that Narasimhan had also conveyed to him that the division of the institutions listed in schedule IX and X between the two states is in an atmosphere of give and take. In fact, Naidu and

Narasimhan speaking to media persons earlier in the day, said that the disputes between the two states would be resolved amicably. Naidu said that he would not go in for a confrontation in respect of division of the assets. With regard to the secretariat building, he said he would take a call on this soon.
Later at the politburo meeting, he briefed the politburo members on the outcome of his meeting with the Governor and the proposal of the TS government that AP secretariat buildings be surrendered. The AP government has control over seven blocks including a dilapidated building which has been declared as a heritage structure.

Since the AP state government continues to have control over the buildings, members of the politburo felt that there is no point in foregoing the state’s right on them without getting anything in return.
Sujana Chowdary is reported to have told Naidu that if there is an AP Bhavan in Hyderbad like the one in Delhi, it would be convenient for any one from Andhra to stay in Hyderabad while on a visit to the TS capital. The chief minister asked Sujana Chowdary to ensure that the Centre would give statutory status to the special package it has announced for the state. When Chowdary told him that the Centre was taking steps to keep up its promises, Naidu told him to apply pressure continuously instead of keeping quiet and watching the developments passively.
