Teacher suspended for misbehaving with girl students in Srikakulam

SRIKAKULAM: A Telugu teacher of Devudala High School in Regidi mandal in Srikakulam district was suspended on charges of sexual harrassment of the girl students. His another two colleagues have also been served notices related to the case.

According to the information, the Telugu teacher, Venkata Ramana, had allegedly been misbehaving with the girl students for the last one year.

With the girls keeping their mum, school PET Sudharshan and Physics teacher Venkateswara Rao also followed the suit.  Recently, the girls brought the issue to the notice of a lady teacher of the school, who in turn raised the matter in a staff meeting. However, the headmaster reportedly asked the Telugu teacher to beg an excuse and close the issue.

On Tuesday, with the girls complaining before their parents too, the irked guardians, along with villagers. barged into the school premises and exchanged heated arguments with the staff. With the villagers trying to lock up the premises and demanding that accused teachers be suspended, a school staff informed the higher ups. The higher education officials rushed to the school and interacted with the students who narrated the entire episode.

DEO Devananda Reddy on Wednesday suspended Telugu teacher Venakata Ramana and issued notices to his colleagues Sudarshan and Venakteswarara Rao. Headmaster Ananda Rao was also pulled up for trying to hush up the matter.

Regidi SI V Ramesh said the parents refused to lodge police complaints against the teachers.
