TIRUPATI: Humiliated by police cases being slapped against him time and again, a 35-year-old man has committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his house in Chandragiri near Tirupati on Wednesday.

Police registered cases against six persons, all of whom are relatives of the deceased engaged in a property dispute with him, for abetting his suicide.

Kakasi Ravi Kumar worked at SV Dairy Farm and owned a major share in the extended family’s ancestral property. Ravi Kumar’s father and uncle jointly owned around 3.25 acre land near Tirupati and following their death, Ravi Kumar, who was his father’s only son, inherited his father’s share of 50 per cent of the property which is reportedly worth over `3 crore per acre.

As Ravi Kumar’s uncle had four children and they got smaller shares in the property, he kept filing police cases over the issue for the past 15 years. Police detained and questioned him on Tuesday night. Kumar consumed pesticide and died. His wife and villagers protested outside the Chandragiri Police Station with his body demanding justice.
