KURNOOL/RAJAHMUNDRY : A day after YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s incendiary remarks against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at a public meeting in Nandyal, Telugu Desam leaders including Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya and district president Somisetty Venkateswarlu on Friday lodged a complaint with Nandyal byelection returning officer Prasana Venkatesh requesting him to initiate action against the YSRC chief. The TDP had on Thursday said they would file no complaint as “the people would themselves rise up in protest against the YSRC chief’s words”.

When contacted, the returning officer said he had received the complaint and also a video clip of the remark from his staff. “I am going through the video clip. I will submit a report to the Election Commission soon,” he said. Jagan had, in an emotional outburst, said the CM was “like people who claim to be orphans after killing their parents” and that there was “nothing wrong” in shooting down the “likes of him”. Meanwhile, a team led by TDP district general secretary Y Nageswarao Yadav lodged a complaint against Jagan at III Town Police Station in Kurnool city.

Kurnool SP Gopinath Jetty told mediapersons that he had received a memorandum from ZP chairman Mallela Rajasekhar requesting him to examine the inflammatory speech of the YSRC president. “We are examining the tapes. We will take action if there is evidence that his comments may disturb pubic order,” he said. He, however, said no case has been registered in any police station in the district so far.A similar complaint was lodged at III Town Police station in Rajahmundry by Telugu Desam leader and chairman of the Godavari Urban Development Authority saying there is reason to suspect that a criminal conspiracy was being hatched to harm Naidu and therefore a criminal case should be registered against Jagan.

In Kurnool, Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy, Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and MP TG Venkatesh slammed the YSRC chief for his incendiary comments. Murthy said Jagan should “know how to respect leaders before aspiring to become the Chief Minister of the state”. “Jaganmohan Reddy has a criminal mind and therefore is not eligible to be a leader,” he alleged.
