VIJAYAWADA: Following the best practices adopted by the Andhra Pradesh Government in energy efficiency, the Government of India is contemplating conducting a national level programme on energy efficiency by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in the State shortly, said Principal Secretary Ajay Jain. In a press release issued here on Friday, Ajay Jain said that the BEE, statutory body under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, Ministry of Power, has finalised an action plan under the guidance of Piyush Goyal. It has set a target to achieve 1.32 million units of energy savings, thereby targeting to result in economic savings of thousands of crores per annum as part of the National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE). 

It has also decided to create a healthy competition among States towards achieving the set goals. In this connection, BEE has shown keen interest to organise the national programme on energy efficiency in AP. Disclosing the details of the national level programme to be organised in the State, Ajay Jain said that AP has completed 2.17 crore LED bulbs distribution till date with 1,709 MU energy savings per annum with monetary savings of Rs 946 crore.
