RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: In an attempt to increase production to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s target of reducing 10 per cent of oil and gas imports, ONGC, Rajamahendravaram Asset organised a two-day technology meet at its V Base Complex, with the theme Adapt, Align and Accelerate, on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, DMR Sekhar, Executive Director, Asset Manager, said that the technology meet was aimed at increasing production from the fields available in East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna districts. “The oil and gas available in the region is found at a depth of 5,000 meters and temperature of 200 degrees/400 Fahrenheit.

In the inaugural address, VP Mahawar, Director (Offshore) said that to reduce the import bill inducting new technology is the only solution. He cautioned that the technology in the industry was so complex that ‘one size fit for all’ will not help. “We have to adapt to new technology and aligned with the specialities of the geology leading to acceleration of the production.

The ONGC has the technology, but it is still open for new technologies available in the world,” Mahawar said. Referring to the emergence of electric cars and its import of oil and gas, he opined that the country is still far from producing electric cars that will meet the global requirement. Sixteen national and international companies and several ONGC technocrats are participating in the meet. The NTIG, Ahmedabad, is providing the technical assistance for the meet.
