Three-day Gurukul Patasala sports meet begins

The three-day Gurukul Patasala State-level sports meet began on a colourful note at Regional Centre for Excellence School at Tadikonda in Guntur district on Monday.

GUNTUR:  The three-day Gurukul Patasala State-level sports meet began on a colourful note at Regional Centre for Excellence School at Tadikonda in Guntur district on Monday. Nearly 450 students from 51 Gurukul Patasalas in 13 districts are participating in the sports meet. Addressing the students after the inauguration, ZP vice-chairman V Purnachandra Rao said the State government was giving top priority to sports and conducting State-level sports meet in Amaravati.

He told students that the sports and games would ensure fitness while improving competitive spirit among them. APREI secretary M Nagabhushana Sharma said that the government was giving top priority to sports and announcing rewards and jobs to sportspersons. He urged students to take up sports as career.          
Regional deputy secretary Dr. RS Nagalakshmi, officials G Venkata Ramana and M Nageswara Rao, school principal N J Prabhakar, Tadikonda MPP Sk Rijwana Jilani, sarpanch N Naveen Kumar and others participated. The sports meet concludes on December 6.
