Yet another two tourists from Andhra Pradesh feared drowned at sea

The youths after a drink were on a sea bath near the old Pier behind Seagulls restaurant when Muthu (22), an auto rickshaw driver and Altaf (23) a building construction worker were dragged away.

PUDUCHERRY: Even  before Puducherry could  get over the unfortunate incident of drowning of two IT professionals who had come down from Bengaluru to Puducherry in the sea , today another two youths from Chitoor district of Andhra Pradesh are feared to have drowned in sea.

Police said that seven  youths hailing from Chittoor had come to Puducherry on a tour today. The youths after a drink were on a sea bath near the old Pier behind  Seagulls restaurant when Muthu(22),an auto rickshaw driver and Altaf (23) a building construction worker  were dragged away by swift currents. The others screamed for help and fishermen from the nearby  Vambakeerapalayam village   went for a search for them. However, the two  could not be traced. Subsequently the coast guard and fire service men are  also  involved in the search for them.

  As darkness fell, they stopped the search  and likely to resume search tomorrow morning.

 It may be noted that two days back   IT professional team from Bengaluru who were on a tour of Puducherry were drowned in the Bay of Bengal off Chinnaveerampattinam coast. While the body of one Harshit Kumar (26)  from Kolkata was immediately found   and Praful Phanimadhar Yellapeddi (25) from Secunderabad was subsequently recovered.
