GUNTUR: The police arrested two bike lifters and recovered 12 motorcycles worth Rs 4.5 lakh and an auto from their possession, at Chandolu in Guntur district on Friday.Explaining about the modus operandi of the accused, the police said Katta Nani, a bike mechanic starts the bikes by breaking handle locks and connecting wires together and Usarapu Sagar alias Samudrala sells the stolen bikes to farmers and agriculture workers in rural areas. 

The duo hail from Nizampatnam in Guntur district and stole the bikes from Chandolu, Bapatla, Tadepalli, Ongole, Nellore and other areas. Bapatla DSP D Gangadharam said that the youth have been stealing bikes for the last eight months. The DSP appreciated Bapatla Rural CI Koteswara Rao, Chandolu SI Chennakesava Rao and other police personnel for nabbing the accused.
