Woman mowed down, three teams formed to nab killer

The police have formed three special teams to nab Ranjit who brutally murdered a 52-year-old woman by mowing her down with a tractor at Varigapalli village in Yadamari mandal on Friday. 

CHITTOOR : The police have formed three special teams to nab Ranjit who brutally murdered a 52-year-old woman by mowing her down with a tractor at Varigapalli village in Yadamari mandal on Friday. 
He also attacked her husband with an iron rod. Chittoor DSP S Subba Rao on Saturday said Ranjit was involved in a land dispute with N Jagannadh Reddy (56) and his wife Vimalamma (52). 
When both the parties moved court for settlement of the land dispute, it issued an injunction recently in favour of Jagannadh Reddy. 

Armed with the court order, Jagannadh Reddy along with his wife Vimalamma ventured into the disputed land and started ploughing with a tractor. Having learnt about it, Ranjit rushed to the agricultural land. Following an argument with the couple, the accused started the tractor parked in the field and mowed down Vimalamma.  

She was crushed to death in rotavator. Later, he hit on the head of Jagannadh Reddy with an iron rod. After that he fled, believing  that Jagannadh Reddy, who collapsed after being hit, also died. 
Some villagers rushed to the spot and shifted Jagannadh Reddy to Chittoor hospital. His condition is stated to be critical. All the police stations in Chittoor district and neighbouring areas in Tamil Nadu were alerted. The police launched a manhunt to nab Rajit, the DSP said on Saturday.
