Debt-ridden farmer ends life in TS

KHAMMAM: A 55-year-old farmer committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his residence in Cheruvukommutanda village on Thursday. Farmer Bhukya Rama, who had three acres, took another 10 acres on lease and cultivated cotton and chilly. He took money from private moneylenders and the debts piled upto `8 lakh.

His crops were damaged and he could not get MSP for his crops. Meanwhile, moneylenders started putting pressure on him to repay the amount. Unable to handle the pressure, he consumed pesticide and died while he was being shifting to a hospital. His wife died a year ago with ill health and he was living with his son. Police registered case and is investigating.
