Eastern Naval Command chief lauds Central revenue departments for holding cultural events in Vizag

The event organised by the Income Tax department, ‘DAKSHIN’- the 30th Central Revenue Sports and Cultural Board (CRSCB) South Zone Cultural Meet 2016-17 witnessed as many as 255 performers from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Goa taking part.

While the team from Hyderabad sang a group song ‘Sankranthi Shobha’, the team from Karnataka performed Garba dance. A participant from Tamil Nadu said that they were performing to convey a message on the Jallikatu issue.

People enjoyed the performance of Deepika Reddy, a noted Kuchipudi dancer and a cultural ambassador from Hyderabad who was overwhelmed by the hospitality of the people from the Port City. Thyagaraj, the IT officer from Karnataka, expressed, “We have a recreational club for the employees to showcase our talent and explore the various traditional and folk dances and dramas.”

Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Vice-Admiral HCS Bisht. Addressing the gathering, he said,

“This is the first time such an event is being organised in the port city.  The Central revenue departments of Income Tax, Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax work relentlessly to the revenue generation of the nation and such kind of events serve as a stress busters with Visakhapatnam being the cultural hub.”

AK Shrivastava, the principal chief commissioner of Income Tax and chairman of CRSCB South zone, stated that Rs 15,000 crore was generated annually from the central revenue department.
