Naval operational demonstration captivates Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: A Sea of humanity was witnessed during the final day proceedings of Navy Operational demonstration performed by the Eastern Naval Command of Indian Navy at Punnami Ghat here on Saturday. Interestingly, youth in large numbers assembled at the venue on the concluding day of the event to know about the career prospects in the Navy.

The officials presented a tailor-made lecture and gave special focus on girl students for whom, becoming officers in the Indian Navy is still a distant dream. They also threw light on various entries in the Indian Navy and the procedures to join the Navy as officers and sailors after passing plus two examination.

“I have been dreaming of joining the Indian Navy as an officer since my childhood but I was unaware of the procedure to be followed to get a job in the Navy. However, the conduct of Navy Operational demonstration in the city came as boon for me as it gave me a chance to interact with the Navy, officials” said G Ajay Kumar, a graduate. Soon I will apply for a post in the Navy in the upcoming recruitment drive, he added.

When Express approached the Navy officials, they are delighted to say that youth in large numbers are showing keen interest in joining the Indian Navy.

Meanwhile, several parents carried their children on their shoulders so as to enable them to witness the Naval demonstrations in Krishna river.

Children from various schools also made a beeline to the Navy Weapon Expo arranged near the Punnami Ghat. A telefilm was also screened to highlight the capability and versatility of the Navy. The officials also explained the attacking techniques and preventive measures followed during the wars on sea to the visitors.
