Special medical camps have been set up in the affected villages of Rajamahendravaram and Bobbilanka in Sitanagaram mandals.

 KAKINADA : After three swine flu cases reported at the Kakinada GGH, the health officials on Tuesday went to the villages of the patients and launched a survey to find out if any other person has similar symptoms.

In the evening, the officials declared that no more swine flu suspected cases were identified at Taadithota in Rajamahendravaram and Bobbilanka in Sitanagaram mandals.

District medical and health officer (DM&HO) K Chandraiah also visited he villages and took stock of the situation. 

“During the visit, I found that sanitation was very poor at both the places. The health officials have been told to organise precautionary medical camps for four more days. No swine flu death has been from the district thus far. However, we do not want to take any chance,” said Chandraiah.  

The DM&HO also conducted a swine flu special review meeting at his office with all ASHA nodal officers and instructed them to organise extensive awareness campaign on swine flu and seasonal diseases across the district. “The health department is fully geared up for any untoward situation,” he said. 

Victims at Kakinada GGH recovering fast
All the three swine flu patients, admitted to the Kakinada GGH are responding well to the treatment and doctors said that the victims were recovering fast. “Ponnada Anasuya (51) and her grandson P Sai Venkata Kumar (17 months) from Bobbilanka  and Kona Venkat Gani (19 months) from Taadithota are responding well to the treatment. As all the patients are blood relatives, we have conducted the necessary tests to their family members. All of them were found negative. As a precautionary measure, prophylaxis treatment is on for the close relatives of the victims,” said Kakinada GGH superintendent M Raghavendra Rao.
