One killed in road mishap, Dalits suspect foul play

A man was killed and another injured in a road accident near Garagaparru village in Palakoderu mandal on Friday night.

ELURU: A man was killed and another injured in a road accident near Garagaparru village in Palakoderu mandal on Friday night.According to police, Chinakapula Yacob (55) and Kancheti Adam were going towards Garagaparru from Gollalakoderu on a TVS moped when a speeding lorry hit them from behind. Pillion rider Yacob died on the spot in the incident.

Adam who was seriously injured in the mishap was admitted to hospital. Palakoderu police reached the spot and shifted the body of Yacob to Bhimavaram government hospital for post-mortem. The police prevented Dalits from taking the body into their possession. A case was registered.

Meanwhile, Ratnam, a Dalit leader of  Garagaparru, suspected foul play in the road mishap. Yacob got vital information pertaining to the social boycott imposed on Dalits by upper caste people of Garagaparru, he said.The Dalit leader alleged that the police were trying to shield the upper castes of Garagaparru in the social boycott case.
