Southwest monsoon weakens

Temperatures are in the normal range of 31 to 32 degree Celsius across the State.

VISAKHAPATNAM: After heavy rain triggered by the low-pressure zone on the Bay of Bengal lashing the north coastal Andhra districts, the southwest monsoon has fallen weak over the state.  The weathermen said that the monsoon had become weak over coastal AP and Rayalaseema in the last 24 hours and the state received very isolated rainfall on Friday.

According to the India Meteorological Department, only Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district recorded 1 cm of rain, while the Rayalaseema region witnessed an almost dry weather.

“As the trough on Sea Level Chart runs from Vidarbha to south Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Rayalaseema, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema districts in the next 24 hours,” India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said.
