Anantapur  sizzles at 41 degree Celsius

VISAKHAPATNAM :  Hinting that dog days are ahead for the state, the mercury levels went up a few notches above the normal in major cities across Andhra Pradesh.


Meteorological department official said that there had been a rise in the day temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above the normal in most parts of the state. Anantapur sizzled at 41 degrees Celsius on Monday, the highest temperature recorded in the state. The temperature recorded was 5 degrees above the normal.


Tirupati in Chittoor district and Kurnool district headquarters recorded 39 degrees Celsius, while mercury levels at Bapatla in Guntur district 37 degrees Celsius, three degrees more than the average normal temperature.


Weathermen from IMD attributed the rise in temperature to various reasons including the entry of westerly winds towards Andhra Pradesh and termination of northerly winds. However, Vijayawada recorded 36 degrees Celsius.
