TDP makes a clean sweep in MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh

The elections were held in nine constituencies of Andhra Pradesh and one legislative council in Telangana.

VIJAYAWADAIn a major setback to the Yuvajana, Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRC), the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the MLC (local bodies) elections in Kadapa, Kurnool and Nellore districts, the results of which were announced on Monday.

The TDP made a clean sweep of all the nine MLC seats (local bodies), bringing the total to 15. The party had won the remaining six seats, namely Srikakulam, East Godvari, West Godvaari (two seats), Chittoor, Anantapur unanimously.  

In YSRC bastion Kadapa district, its candidate YS Vivekananda Reddy, a former minister and paternal uncle of YSRC chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, lost against TDP candidate Mareddy Ravindranath Reddy alias BTech Ravi by margin of 33 votes.

Meanwhile in Nellore and Kurnool, TDP candidates Vakati Narayana Reddy and Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy trounced their rivals Anam Vijaya Kumar Reddy and Gowru Venkata Reddy of YSRC. The YSRC candidate in Nellore lost by 85 votes, while in Kurnool the victory margin was 43 votes.

The elections were held in nine constituencies of Andhra Pradesh and one legislative council in Telangana.
