Oppn stalls question hour over SCS

When Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao started the Question Hour, the YSRC, which had served an adjournment motion over SCS,  sought a debate on the issue.

VIJAYAWADA: The Opposition YSRC stalled Question Hour of the AP Legislative Assembly on Thursday morning by storming into the Well and raising slogans demanding Special Category Status  (SCS) to the State.

When Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao started the Question Hour, the YSRC, which had served an adjournment motion over SCS,  sought a debate on the issue.

After the Speaker rejecting their demand, the YSRC MLAs stormed into the Well of the House.

Holding placards, the opposition members raised slogans in favour of SCS and sought a statement from the government.

Stating that the government had categorically mentioned in the Governor's address under what circumstances it had accepted the special assistance, Government Whip Kuna Ravi Kumar said that "it is unfair" on part of the Opposition to waste the valuable time of the House.

Terming the SCS as a closed chapter, BJP floor leader P Vishnukumar Raju said "it is ridiculous" to agitate for SCS as there are no possibilities for the same.

"Can we fight for Samaikyandhra now," he asked and pointed out that as the YSRC has no other issues to raise, it came up with SCS despite knowing the fact that it is impossible.

With the YSRC legislators remained in the Well raising slogans, the Speaker adjourned the House.

After the commencement of the session, the YSRC leaders once again stormed into the Well and remained there for some time even as the Speaker said that there is no question to debate on the adjournment motion once it was rejected.

After Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu made it clear that there is no scope for debate on SCS, the YSRC members returned to their seats before the Chief Minister issuing a statement over Agri Gold Scam issue.
