YSRC disrupts Andhra Pradesh Assembly, seeks debate over CM's role in cash-for-vote scam

The Opposition YSRC has disrupted the proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly seeking a debate over Naidu’s role in the issue.

VIJAYAWADA: In view of the apex court admitting a petition against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the 'cash-for-vote' scam in Telangana, the Opposition YSRC has disrupted the proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, seeking a debate over Naidu’s role in the issue.

Immediately after Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly began at Velagapudi on Friday, YSRC members, who served an adjournment motion seeking the debate, walked into the well holding placards and raised slogans. They demanded that the Speaker telecast the video related to the scam in the Assembly. However, the Speaker adjourned the House for a while.

Taking strong exception to the YSRC MLAs disturbing the Question Hour regularly, the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders said that the YSRC should come up in a proper format to debate on any issue instead of stalling the Assembly proceedings.

Stating that Andhra Pradesh has nothing to do with the cash-for-vote scam as the matter involves the Telangana State and the Election Commission, TDP MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar said YSRC has no moral right to speak on scams, as the party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was himself involved in several scams and even spent over 16 months in jail.

"As the YSRC chief had visited the chilli market yard in Guntur before coming to Assembly, we thought that he will raise the chilli farmers' problems in the House. But he is trying to implement his own agenda," the TDP MLA claimed.

BJP floor leader P Vishnukumar Raju also accused YSRC of disturbing the House frequently.
