VIJAYAWADA: Opposition leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday challenged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu whether he was ready to resign if he fails to prove the allegations that the proprietor of Orange Travels was Reddy’s benami.

Speaking to media persons at the Assembly, the YSRC chief said that the TDP MP Kesineni Nani and MLA B Umamaheswara Rao were spreading white lies regarding their purpose of meeting Transport commissioner N Balasubrahmanyam, only to save their skin since they went there for personal reasons.

The TDP MP and MLA had alleged that Orange Travels was operating bus services in AP illegally which was resulting in a loss to the state-run APSRTC.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said that it has become a habit for the ruling Telugu Desam Party leaders to associate him with everything that is illegal or shady, and added that he had nothing to do with Orange travels or its proprietor.

He was critical of the TDP’s decision to have YSRC MLA Chevireddy Bashakara Reddy sent to a police station when he was staging a protest on the Assembly premises seeking action against Nani and Rao who had abused Balasubrahmanyam in public.

"The government does not take action against those who abuse public servants and on the contrary is ready to pounce on a legislator who was seeking action against the MP and MLA. Though Bhaskara Reddy was a member of the Legislative House, speaker K Sivaprasada Rao did not go to his rescue," Reddy said.
