Andhra Pradesh revenue officials to face music for tampering of land records

VISAKHAPATNAM: District collector Pravin Kumar warned  Revenue department officials of strict action if the land records are tampered. He said that as prices of lands have hit the roof, tweaking of land records came to light.Pravin Kumar told newsmen here on Friday that they had found 22 such cases in Madhurawada and Kommadi areas, where names and photos in land records had been changed. He said that in the 22 cases, 10 are from Madhurwada area, whose land value is `493 crore.

“Revenue officials and staff who aided such actions would not be spared. We have preliminary information and discussed the matter with the police commissioner. With the arrest of the persons, whose names and photos were inserted in the land records, the case would gain strength,” said Pravin Kumar.
He said that in such civil cases, meetings will be conducted, complete details will be obtained and after several inquiries, the land owner would be identified. Action would be taken on persons responsible for the crime in five to six weeks, he said.
