IRCTC’s maharajas’ express southern jewel to roll on July 1

 Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) which launched one circuit of their flagship luxury train Maharajas’ Express named as ‘Southern Jewels’ is going to cover prominent destinations in west and south India starting July 1. 

HYDERABAD: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) which launched one circuit of their flagship luxury train Maharajas’ Express named as ‘Southern Jewels’ is going to cover prominent destinations in west and south India starting July 1. 


The tariff excluding service tax for one adult would be `5,00,680  for deluxe cabin, `7,23,420 (junior suite), `10,09,330 (suite) and `17,33,410 for presidential suite.

Maharajas’ Express commenced its operations in 2010, and since then the train has become a leading luxury train in the world, with comparisons with the Royal Scotsman and the Eastern and Oriental Express.


The train is a recipient of the coveted Leading Luxury Train of the World Award for the last five years in a row since 2012.


IRCTC, SC joint general manager, N Sanjeevaiah stated the Maharajas’ Express with 23 coaches and a capacity of 88 guests is a cut above other luxury trains in each aspect like the cabin experience, onboard dining, excursions and events organised for guests. As part of promotional campaign, railways is offering one free ticket on booking for first adult passenger.

The train has state-of-the-art features with onboard water filtration plant, spacious cabins, two bars cum lounges, two restaurants and a well trained onboard team to cater to global expectations
