All the four are residents of Peddapaadu in GK Veedhi mandal of Visakhapatnam Agency.

“The Maoists had been in the dalam for the last seven to 10 years and have a number of cases against them. Balaram was involved in the murder of Vanthala Malathi at Kothapalem in 2009, elimination of three villagers at Saagulu near Lakkavaram in 2013 and the murder of businessman Makkali Satyanarayana at Kumkumpudi last year,”  Visakhapatnam Rural SP  Rahul Dev Sharma said while producing the surrendered Maoists before the media here on Wednesday.

Balram also was involved in the blasting of an electricity tower at Lankapakela in 2011 and Teemalabanda in 2014. He was a team member in the exchange of fire at Peddapaadu, in which two injured Maoists were given treatment by the police at Visakhapatnam. Having joined the dalam in 2011, Korra Saathi was wanted in 10 various offences. He was involved in the murder of three tribals at Saagulu in 2013 and that of businessman Makkali Satyanarayana at Kumkumpudi, apart from the attack in Lankapakela, Peddapaadu exchange of fire along with Balaram and a few more arsons reported from various places. Rahul Dev Sharma said that Pangi Ganesh and D Venkat Rao were involved in four and two cases respectively.

Pangi Ganesh was part of the team that killed three tribals at Lakkavaram in 2013, while D Venkat Rao took part in the Peddapaadu exchange of fire. According to the SP, since February, the four had been pressurised by their family members to quit.  “The Maoists decided to surrender after realising that having adopted the Maoist ideology, they had not brought any change to their lives for good. They will receive all the benefits from the government as per the laws,” the SP said.
