VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra University Sanskrit HoD K Yedukondalu who was charged with sexual harassment of the girl students of the department was arrested by the city police on Wednesday under Sections 354-A and 509 of IPC. However, the professor was later granted bail and released in the evening.  Three Town police station inspector B Venkata Rao said we registered cases against Prof Yedukondalu on Monday and arrested him on Wednesday for making vulgar comments against girl students.

Meanwhile, based on the complaint given by Yedukondalu, the police also registered case against two research scholars R Vijay and B Suryanarayana for assaulting him. Talking to Express, AU Vice-Chancellor G Nageswara Rao said, “We have constituted two committees _ one to investigate the allegations made by the girl students and another to report on attendance issues and students manhandling Yedukondalu.”
