GUNTUR: Guntur Rural SP Ch Venkata Appala Naidu launched an awareness programme ‘Sabala’ to instil confidence among girl students and women in the city on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the SP said that women police attached to colleges and educational institutions, would rescue girl students from eve-teasing, ragging and attacks by anti-social elements.
The SP said that Sabala programme is aimed at empowerment of girls and women in the district. The police department have adopted visible policing and a people-friendly police system to stop crimes against women. The college managements have been told to install CCTV cameras on their respective campuses. Narasaraopet DSP K Nageswara Rao, Tenali DSP M Snehita and Sattenapalli DSP V Kalesha Vali participated in the meeting.
