Andhra: Jilted auto driver slits girl’s throat, still at large

 In a shocking incident, an auto driver brutally murdered  a girl by slashing her throat in Ram Nagar locality of Vetapalem town in Prakasam district on Saturday.

ONGOLE: In a shocking incident, an auto driver brutally murdered  a girl by slashing her throat in Ram Nagar locality of Vetapalem town in Prakasam district on Saturday.The victim, Sravanam Teja, daughter of Prabhakar Reddy,, was a native of Chirala town.The 22-year old was pursuing B.Tech and working in TVS Motor Showroom in Chirala town.According to Chirala CI Bhaktavatsala Reddy, the miscreant, Gopichand, an auto driver by profession, is said to have been harassing the girl in the name of love.

However, with the girl turning down his proposal, he developed a grudge and murdered her in the residence of his maternal uncle Srinivasa Rao in Ramnagar of Vetapalem when the inmates were out of the residence.After slashing her throat, he went absconding leaving the body in a pool of blood.
However, he informed his friends about the murder, who in turn tipped the police.
Police led by Chirala DSP Prem Kazak inspected spot and sent the body to government hospital in Chirala for post-mortem. A case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprit.
