BSNL to set up more 3G, 4G towers in Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: Aimed at extending quality services to its customers, AP Telecom Circle of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to install more 4G and 3G towers across the State at an estimated cost of `168 crore, said K Damodara Rao, Chief General Manager, AP Telecom Circle.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Rao said that the circle has to improve the reach of data customers from existing 55 per cent to 85 per cent. Apart from improvement of data quality, plans are afoot to upgrade the existing network. He said that the AP Circle would provide 1.42 lakh connections with New Generation Technology (NGT) in addition to the existing 1.21 lakh connections in the State. The latest technology includes video calling, reliable broadband and voice calls data and reliable transmission even for long distance landline connection.

Referring to Wi-Fi services, he said that BSNL has 265 Wi-Fi hotspots in the State in 98 different locations to give data availability to users with high speed network. He further said BSNL is soon going to introduce International Wi-Fi services to gain access to unlimited high speed data through Wi-Fi hotspots across the globe very soon.
