Police official stabbed while chasing highway dacoit gang in Andhra Pradesh

A police sub inspector was stabbed by robbers near the Bollapalli Toll Plaza on NH 16 in Martur mandal of Prakasam district in early hours of Monday.

ONGOLE: A police sub inspector was stabbed by robbers near the Bollapalli Toll Plaza on NH 16 in Martur mandal of Prakasam district in early hours of Monday.

He was rushed to hospital and where he  is undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.

V Nagamalleswara Rao, sub inspector of Martur was patrolling the highway and was on look out for a highway dacoits gang, which was reported to be active in the region for past three days. He came across the gang members at the toll plaza.

On seeing him, they fled into the roadside fields and the Sub Inspector chased after them on foot, He caught hold of one of them,  but the dacoit stabbed him in the shoulder with knife and fled. The other police staff who were following behind rushed the Sub Inspector to the government hospital.

On being alerted of the incident, DSP K Premkajal and other officials rushed to the spot. All the police stations were put on the alert to nab the dacoits.
