GUNTUR: The police seized 80 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth `19 lakh from a burglar in Ponnur police station limits on Monday.
Addressing the media, Guntur Rural SP Ch V Appala Naidu said that the burglar was involved in 12 robbery cases in Ponnur, Vemuru, Repalle, Eluru, Kakinada, Gajuwaka and other parts of Andhra Pradesh. “For the past 10 years, he was involved in robbery cases and Ponnur police was looking for him. He used to pose as real estate broker and roam during the day and burgle houses by breaking locks at night,” the SP said. The police came to know that burglar Kancherla Mohan Rao of Kanaparru was selling gold ornaments at Ponnuru and nab bed him after conducting a raid.
