ONGC holds walkathon to promote cleanliness

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Mahila Samithi members and Special Protection Force personnel of ONGC Rajahmundry Asset organised a walkathon from Prakash Nagar to the Base Complex in the city on Thursday to promote cleanliness as part of Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. ONGC Executive Director and Rajahmundry Asset Manager DMR Sekhar flagged off the walkathon.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the ONGC is organising an awareness campaign about Swachh Bharat in its operational areas in Krishna, East and West Godavari districts through various media. It has constructed 1,400 toilets at a cost of `3.02 crore in its operational areas to promote sanitation. A proposal has also been made to construct more toilets in rural areas at a cost of `1 crore. Construction of another 1,200 toilets will be taken up in association with the government, he said. About 300 people participated in the walkathon.
