Over 3,300 people are currently being treated for Tuberculosis in East Godavari district.

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Over 3,300 people are currently being treated for Tuberculosis in East Godavari district. The virus has become drug resistant in several patients due to the irregular consumption of medicines, district TB preventive officer N Prasanna Kumar told TNIE at Rajamahendravaram GGH where he announced a new method of drug distribution in the district.

“The new policy requires the affected to take pills on a daily basis. This will hopefully reduce instances of people forgetting to take their pills. There is absolutely no shortage of TB medication in the district, but the irregularity in consuming medicines is making the virus resistant to drugs,” he explained.
