VIJAYAWADA: Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has alleged that Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy has compromised with the Centre for acquittal in CBI cases. He sought to know why the YSRC chief is refraining from criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre despite injustice being done to Andhra Pradesh.

At a press conference here on Sunday, the TDP minister strongly condemned the remarks of Jagan who had asked CM Chandrababu Naidu ‘to jump into a well’. “Why didn’t Jaganmohan Reddy raise the issue of special category status (SCS) with the BJP when he supported its Presidential candidate last year? Did he forget the issue when his MP V Vijayasai Reddy met PM Modi? Instead of being a responsible leader, he is making remarks against CM Naidu and TDP.

He will pay the price for his loose tongue. He should wash his mouth with phenyl (bathroom cleaner) for making such remarks ,” he said. He further alleged, “After Jagan struck a rapport with the BJP, he got a few of his illegal assets, which were frozen by the CBI, released. The CBI also has not inquired into some shell companies owned by Jagan.”

Referring to Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar’s comments that AP wouldn’t have gotten forest department’s clearances and permissions for other projects had it not been for the BJP’s support, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said, “That is why our party president waited for all these years. Imagine what would have happened if we had raised the issue of special category status two years ago.”
