Oil majors told to help Andhra Pradesh in growth

Already the ONGC, HPCL and GAIL had been playing key role in the development of the national economy and in the future these companies must continue the momentum.

VISAKHAPATNAM: “AP was badly affected by the bifurcation and to strengthen its economy, all the oil and natural gas companies situated here should extend full support and cooperation to the state,” said M Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice -President of India. He met higher officials of public sector oil and natural gas companies in an interactive session at the  VUDA Children Arena here on Friday evening and discussed their activities.

On the occasion, the Vice-President said that oil and natural gas companies should play a key role in the economic development of the nation. Already the ONGC, HPCL and GAIL had been playing key role in the development of the national economy and in the future these companies must continue the momentum.

“The Union government is determined to decrease the oil imports to 10 per cent by 2022 and all the PSU oil and natural gas companies should work hard to increase their production accordingly. For this, all the  companies should focus on the on-going expansion works and crucial projects to complete them on schedule,” he advised.

Venkaiah Naidu suggested to the ONGC authorities to expand their activities in the Krishna- Godavari (KG) Basin where the oil and natural gas reserves are very high and the ONGC should explore to the natural resources to optimum level without fail.

K Haribabu, the Vizag MP, RV Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao, the Mines minister, Sushma Rath, the joint secretary of the Petrolium ministry, former minister Kamineni Srinivas, district collector (incharge) Srujana, GVMC commissioner M Hari Narayanan and others participated.
