VIJAYAWADA: Traffic came to a grinding halt here on Saturday when YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, along with his vast number of followers and party leaders, made his entry into the city at Krishna Varadhi as part of his 136th day of ‘Prajasankalpa Yatra’. After a break on Friday, Jagan resumed his ‘Yatra’ at Manipal Hospital at Tadepalli around 9 am and reached here at 10 am and passed through flyover, Veterinary Hospital junction, Sikhamani Centre before arriving at Kotta Vanthena via Pushpa Hotel and Seetharampuram junction.

All the junctions, through which Jagan passed with his supporters, witnessed traffic jam as police diverted vehicles. As traffic on one side of the flyover was stopped to allow Jagan to enter the city, the vehicles bound for Vizag and Kolkata were diverted to another side. This created a huge traffic jam for a while on the national highway. The same was the situation at Veterinary Hospital junction on Bandar road.

Vehicles passing through the busy road were stopped and diverted to the national highway via Ramalingeswara Nagar junction. Nakkalaroad was chock-a-block with local YSRC leaders and supporters from various parts of the State joining Jagan in his ‘Yatra’. Anticipating a huge turnout to see Jaganmohan Reddy, police identified alternative routes to divert traffic at all major junctions where he passed by.

“Traffic movement in the city was hit for a while as people from all areas made a beeline to see Jagan. Police personnel on the ground kept communicating with the monitoring team at the Operation Command Control Room and made decisions depending on the changing situation. We did our job well to ensure incident-free ‘Yatra’ of the YSRC leader,” said Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang.
